Aloha Friday - What's Your Cooking Style?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question:

What's Your Cooking Style?  From scratch?  Just add water and stir?  Pop it in the microwave and push start? or Grab the nearest takeout menu?

I'll admit hubby and I used to eat in restaurants on a regular basis when we were first together but once our daughter was born, getting out became more and more challenging.

I hated the kitchen in our first home (it came with the marriage), it was too big, too much crap in it and the lay out was awful not to mention the filthy grout in the tiled counter top.

Now at this house, I LOVE the kitchen, everything is within easy reach and we have a huge open granite peninsula where food preparation is so easy.

Our daughter loves to pull up a chair on the other side and help out.

So for me, cooking from scratch is my preference now!  How about you?

I make french toast and Rice Krispies from scratch. Thats about it. While the wife is a good cook she would rather eat out.

I enjoy cooking. When I'm working during the week though, I'd rather reach for something quick.

I enjoy cooking from scratch, and do it most weekdays. We usually grill on the weekends or make something that's quick.

I have been all of those at one point in my life but I am fast becoming a scratch cook and baker! You can't beat the flavor of homemade!

I am a little bit of everything. I like making simple recipes from scratch (don't ask me to make a complicated meal), but some of the meals from Costco are so easy to prep for those nights I don't have as much motivation in the kitchen. I usually try and stay away from the microwave for "meal stuff"...My favorite thing to cook in is my crock pot...I love soup! :)

It's funny reading through the comments, so many people said I like to cook from scratch but I have to do something quick and easy. I do cook from scratch, almost everyday. To me, it's just as quick and easy as boxed mixes and take out. Plus, the flavor is better and I control the ingredients, salt, sugar, etc...that we consume!

I love to cook mostly from scratch but when it comes to baked goods I often go for the box. Love your kitchen!

I love to cook and do it mostly from scratch. I have kitchen envy - your kitchen is exactly what I want in our next house! Our current one is way too cramped, it would be nice to have an island for food prep and to let Princess Nagger have more fun 'helping'. ;)

I love cooking with recipes (so I suppose from scratch - if that counts!) I love to cook, it's very therapeutic for me.

All of the above?? I found that now that I'm working with hubs and it's tax season, and there are no microwaves at work to heat up leftovers, there's been a lot of take out. (Which I HATE) I love to cook from scratch, sometimes I'll use shortcuts and incorporate packaged/pre-cooked/frozen stuff! I just wish I had more time in a day!

I love cooking from scratch, especially now that I stay at home. When I worked full-time, I admit I was lazy but now I want to cook what's best for my family...I try to make it YUMMY, HEALTHY and CHEAP too :)

LOVE your kitchen by the way!

When I cook I prefer cooking from scratch, but really Hubby is the cook in our family unless it's turkey dinner.

I wish I enjoyed cooking because I LOVE to eat good food. So, can't think of anything I do from scratch. Mostly, I cook whatever is easy to cook. And because we have a couple restaurants nearby that deliver, we treat ourselves to a weekend dinner sometimes...but, it can be expensive.

I'm more of a start from scratch and use leftovers woman.

The fast food is a treat once a month or so.

But at one point or another I'll use all of them.

it depends if i'm in work or off shift, when i'm working i want something simple, but off shift from scratch is good, but you can't beat a take away every now and again!

DH cooks much better then I do so he does the "fancy" cooking. I do basic things. When I was younger my grandmother bought me a microwave for my first apartment because she figured I would starve otherwise -- LOL! I've improved a bit since then but cooking is not really something I love to do. I'd much rather bake!

My style?

She cooks it. I eat it.

I loved seeing a picture of your beautiful kitchen again!! I remember when you did posts about your beautiful house...I always love those!!

Love what Matty said only change the she to he.

When I was a stay at home mom, I loved to cook. Now that I work I don't ....not even in the summer when I'm off. Wish I could get the love or at least the like back for cooking. We eat take out, something fast but really should get back into the better cooking habit. I was smaller then.

My cooking style is that TechyDad does 99% of our cooking :) No complaining around here since he enjoys it.
