Sometimes A Gal Needs A Little Bling!

One thing I didn't expect when I married was how interested and opinionated my husband was going to be when it came to decorating.

My latest challenge is convincing him to update the lighting fixtures in our log cottage. I know that most people visualize snowshoes, gun racks and bearskin rugs when they think of log homes but I'd love to add some feminine touches to this very masculine space.

I mean seriously, I don't care what he chooses for the new roof he ordered so why not let me choose a new fixture for the family room? All he needs to be concerned about is that the room lights up when he hits the switch. He gets to pick the outside decor, I get the inside, sounds fair... right?

So with only one small lighting store in town, I turned to CSN Stores to find exactly the look I was going for to show my husband. And not only that, they ship to Canada as well as the USA with some items shipping for free!

So tell me what you think of these lighting fixtures. I think either one of them would make me feel right at home out in the woods.

Or

Hubby thinks he's compromising with either of these two.

Or

Would love to have you guys weigh in.
 What do you think?
 Fixture #1, #2, #3 or #4 for a log cabin?

I vote for #2. Rustic yet still pretty. :)

I like #4...it's unique!

I love four. It has the ability to be feminine at the same time go with a log cottage theme too. I can't wait to see pictures of the before and after.

I like #3

3 or 4 for sure....more fitting for a cabin!

I like #3...it is sleek and yet slightly feminine and yet still rustic.

I like #2 myself. 3 and 4 would be quite appropriate if hubs has animal heads hanging on the walls? They remind me of antlers. Don't they remind anyone else of antlers?

While the antler/twig fixtures are thematically appropriate for a log cabin, I say bust out of the mold and go as girly as you can.

I love them all, but number one is the best :O)

1 or 4, I like them both

I love #2! I think that would look great in a log cabin.

For a log cabin I think any of the last 3 are perfect.

Hands down number 4~! Love it.

I tried to leave a message earlier and blogger was having issues, so I'll try again. Personally, I like #2, but for a log cabin, I'd go with #3 or #4. I like #4 better, but if you're trying to get away from the masculine, 3 would work better, I think. Let us know what compromise you guys make!

For a log cabin, I love #3. It's "cabin-ish" yet high style if that makes sense. And I have one of those opinionated when it comes to decorating husbands too. Can't live with 'em; can't paint 'em.

For the love of God, no antlers, no antlers, no antlers!

Either #1 or #2.

For a log cabin...#4

I love #1! By the way, my husband and I got married 8 1/2 years ago. It's been a great challenge to me to adjust to the fact that he wants to have input on the interior decorating of our house. I wish I could just have carte blanch and do things to my own tastes, but I guess it's good for my character to have to compromise. :)

I like both 1 and 3!

This isn't where you live now is it? Is this your vacation home? I am thinking 2 or 3.

I'm slightly simple in taste, so #2, but as a compromise, #4 is pretty cool.

oh number 3 and 4 just say deer/caribou antlers to me, therefore SOO cabin like! haha.

My favorite is definitely number 1. 2 is also pretty. Who says you can't pretty up a log cabin? Sometimes rustic vs elegant is charming!

Number 4, IMO, is a mess: the modern uplights with the antlers just don't work at all. And somehow, number 3 looks sinister to me.

Maybe hubby would accept numbers 1 or 2 if you removed the crystals? They're both still elegant, but more fitting in the cabin style that way.

i too have a cabin in the woods and i agree with you, sometimes you just need a little girlie in the shack. I would say #2 is my pick but if had to go a little more rustic then #3. #1 is a little too over and #4 is a little to woodsie.

If you want the total contrast, go for #1; if not, #3 - the one that looks like the antlers. :)

Hubby has my vote on this one. Definitely 3 or 4.

Did you get your cold shower??

I like #1 the best, but I bet any man would want 3 or 4. Out of those I like #3 best.

Good luck with getting what you want!

My hubby has proved to be quite opinionated with the stuff in our house too- which was a total suprise! I love option number one!!!

Hey Deb! I havent stopped by in a while....as of last week I havent really been blogging much either! But I vote for #2, its perfect!

Tell your husband hes luckey you give him the outside, I weigh in on outside decisions and still dont let my hubs make inside decisions! So tell him it could be worse!! hehe

Deb, I really like number 4... Do you have pics of your cabin? I may have missed it if you have posted them. Have a great day. Blessings,

OH MY !! I am putting a chandelier (well, not me, the electrician will be) in my new Master Bathroom!! I have it all picked out and looks a lot like number 1.

I remember years ago falling in love with these when they began showing up in Pottery Barn Kids for girls. Now I can live the fantasy.

ohmysoul, this post has me cracking up laughing, are you sure your husband isn't my husband's twin???? I love your point of view with "he gets the outside, can't i get the inside" I'm gonna use that one! So I like #2 but #1 is awesome too.....not a fan of #3 or #4, sorry hubby =( lol
