Little Girl Art For A Bedroom Makeover

With the redesign of my 5-year-old daughter's bedroom, I've been scoring all kinds of bargains and deals plus reusing and reinventing staying true to my love of recycling.

We went to our local flea market a couple of weeks ago and snagged this big outdoor sun with a copper-like finish for only $25.  I thought it would be perfect to hang over her fireplace with its curves and round shape.

She, on the other hand, saw an opportunity to crack open the paint and give it a makeover.  And why not?!  I dug out her Crayola washable paints and told her to have fun.  After all, it's her room so it should showcase some of her style too.

She was so excited to paint her new sun,
I hardly had a chance to photograph it before she started

Here's how it looks now

By using washable paint, we can give this pretty sun a quick rinse in the yard and return it to its original finish or break open the paints and give it a new look any time we want.  I think it turned out pretty cute.  Just a reminder to check out those flea markets and second-hand shops.  You never know what you will find and you can't beat the prices!
