Vintage Chair Makeover for a Little Girl!

I don't think I've seen a pair of formal Queen Anne dining chairs look more adorable.  These two beauties are now part of the design makeover I've been doing for our 5-year-old daughter's bedroom.  One is pulled up to her pretty white desk while the other sits to one side of it facing outward.  She loves to have either her dad or me join her at her desk so these two matching chairs are perfect.

This is how both solid wood Queen Anne Chairs looked when I purchased them for $60 each
(a bargain by the way!)

A little spray of Benjamin Moore's "Classic Gray"
(this cost $65 each, another bargain since they now have a professional lacquer finish)

A trip to a local fabric shop where I snagged this fabulous retro hot pink fabric with perfect crisp white dots.  I bulked up this light-weight cotton by bonding it to a nice heavy white linen backing.  It's now the perfect weight for furniture upholstery

And here's the end result for a fraction of what you would pay for two brand new solid wood chairs and they have the perfect polka dot design for her room!

If you can manage a pair of scissors and a staple gun, this is one super easy project with
 BIG BOLD DESIGN IMPACT!

Holy Crap! Now That's Delicious!!

When Corin and Brian Mullins set out to create a healthy survival cereal, they had no idea their gluten free, lactose free, vegan and fibre filled creation would inspire those who tried it to exclaim "Holy Crap!, that tastes amazing!!" And so "the world's most amazing breakfast cereal" was renamed Holy Crap" to the delight of consumers everywhere.

And when you market a breakfast cereal as the "world's most amazing", you have a lot to live up to and guess what?  Holy Crap Cereal delivers just that!  The key ingredient to the health benefits provided by Holy Crap is chia, a recently revived oil seed crop from the Americas.  This power cereal is packed with lots of healthy ingredients like organic hulled hemp hearts, organic buckwheat, organic cranberries, organic raisins, organic apple bits and organic cinnamon.

You can add it to almond, soy, hemp or regular milk for a delicious cereal or you can add it to yogurt which is my new favorite power snack.  Just wait 3 or 4 minutes and enjoy!

If you're familiar with "Shark Tank" on the American network, you can watch the founders of Holy Crap make a very successful pitch to the Canadian counterpart, "Dragens' Den" here:

Aloha Friday - How Much Time Do You Spend on Your Computer Daily?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, relax and ask an easy question:

With all the media accounts (blogs, facebook, google+, twitter etc.), how much time do you spend on your computer on an average day?

For me, I average about 1 hour per day so my blog gets the majority of my computer time.  I don't twitter and hardly use my facebook.  Hey, something has to give and I'd rather do one well then all of them half assed so with only about 60 minutes per day, my blog wins.

Customize Your Lampshade

It's back to designing my daughter's bedroom with a little project to dress up a very boring and very black lampshade.  I loved the pretty acrylic base it came with and finding a lamp on sale for $38 was too good of a bargain to pass up.  I knew replacing the shade was going to cost more than the entire lamp so I decided to dress it up instead.

For just over $10, I found this textured and fluffy flower fabric

Once it was cut to size and then glued into place, here's that boring black shade now

So for less than $50, I have this totally custom lamp for her bedside table
I added the cute starfish and once accessorized, her bedside table will be complete!

Total She Inc Pouchee Plus GIVEAWAY with Review (ENDED)

Winner is Lauren G

I've lost count of how many times I've turned my handbag inside out just to find one item that had somehow jammed itself deep inside the folds of the bottom.  And then the hubs bought me a huge all-leather tote for Christmas with only one tiny zippered compartment.  This was going to be a challenge to use with no way to keep track of anything in it.

Then I discovered Total She Inc and their amazing Pouchee Products that promise to create an organized handbag that can easily go from bag to bag in seconds while keeping the contents neat and tidy.  Their Pouchee Plus was the perfect size to tame that gorgeous leather tote I had been avoiding.

I was so pleased when the friendly folks at Total She Inc. offered to send me one of their Pouchee Plus organizers to review and now there is no way I'm parting with this handbag must have!

This is the one they sent me!

Total Organization At Your Fingertips!!

Look At These Fab Shades!!

And if Pouchee Plus doesn't fit your purse
how about their smaller
This soft and supple, yet rugged looking leatherette
comes in lots of fashion shades!

So now that we've covered the fashion bases
here is what each of these Pouchee Plus Organizers has to offer:

Handy rings making the change from purses, handbags, diaper bags, book bags etc. a breeze!
Outside pockets for pens, sunglasses, cell phone, keys etc.
Inside pockets for credit cards, lipsticks, small flashlight etc.
Inside zippered pocket for coins or personal items
Inside dividers to keep everything organized for easy access
Light colored lining so items are easy to see
Convenient removable strap
and Pouchee Plus is the perfect size for me at 9" wide, 9" high and 3.5" deep
and your Pouchee Plus can be Monogrammed for that personalized touch!

Aloha Friday - Bedtime Schedule?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, relax and ask an easy question:

Do you have a consistent time for your child or children to go to bed each night?

Here, our daughter goes to bed at 8:30 each evening but on weekends she usually gets to stay up an extra hour.  Because we are consistent, she goes to bed willingly and easily every night since there is never a debate about staying up later.  For us, this works.  How about you?
