Getting the Kinks Out in High Heels!

What a relief to be over my cold and back to yoga class.  I have already signed up for the next 8-week term even though I'm only half way through my first 8-week session.

So now with that out of the way,  it's time to fess up and talk about my weight.

Yes, the yoga is great for flexibility and posture but I don't know anyone who has been able to lose their motor gut by practicing yoga. If I was serious about getting rid of a few pounds, I would be out running marathons trying to stay one step ahead of my butt.

But I don't own any sneakers or flat shoes for that matter. One thing you learn when you are a few pounds overweight is that the more height you can gain from heels, the more balanced YOU think you look. Truth be known, people are probably wondering why a stay-at-home mom is wearing high heels around the house and out in the yard.

So now with the cooler weather here, I just might go out and do a bit of walking, maybe even a power walk. If it gets cold enough, I just might work my way up to a slow trot.

Time to jump back up on the healthy lifestyle bandwagon, heels and all!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and the follow! I look forward to spending some time tonight reading your blog (hopefully it will keep me from playing Bejeweled Blitz all night!)

Hi Martha, thanks for stopping by, just found your other blog with the "Finding Snow" post. Made me laugh out loud, will be following that one too!

Let me know it works running in heels!! I can't even walk in heels. But, I am so out of shape that I took the dog for a walk the other day, and my calves are still sore!! Pathetic!

Hi Lee, Wouldn't the neighbors laugh to see me trotting around the sidewalk in high heels. Funny thing is, I can do a pretty good clip in my slip on Crocs even though they have high wedge heels. Too bad it's getting too cold to wear them. Now if only Crocs made a high-heeled boot, I wouldn't have any excuses!

You don't have any sneakers! You have been pampered or those heels mean a whole lot. :)
Actually, I only wear sneakers when I'm outside exercising. There is nothing at all attractive about them. But...see if you can make yourself get a pair, then put them where you can see them. You may actually use them. I'm sure your calves will take a beating at first, but you may like them...for exercise, that is.

I don't know Anita, me in sneakers or any flat shoe is not a pretty sight. Too bad I don't seem to be as concerned about how this extra 25 plus pounds makes me look. Funny thing is, I don't mind doing Yoga in bare feet. Go figure!

You're a better woman than I am. When the cool weather hits, I hibernate and slow down even further, if that's possible.

Hi Blueviolet, thanks for stopping by, I hear you on the hibernating til Spring, if it wasn't for our wood stove, I'd never make it through our Canadian Winters. Still haven't gone out for that walk but I'm seriously considering it!

Hi--saw your post on Chocolate Covered's blog and had to check you out. I was pregnant at 43, after I was already a grandmother. It ended up being ectopic and there's (literally) a whole other long story about that marriage, though I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to be a new mother in my forties.

As far as yoga goes, I'm a certified instructor (the beer drinkin', cursing kind) and I'm telling you, yoga is the closest thing we have to the Fountain of Youth. Keep it up! I didn't get into it until I was 40, and I'm 52 now and feel great. Also, I've never had a hot flash--I think yoga definitely helps!

I know that concept of height makes you look slimmer, but in my "old" age I've learned to appreciate the comforts of flats! I'm pretty impressed with your high heels, but better get down to Target and get yourself some tennis shoes before you start jogging around the block. You might get yourself quite a following (and horn honking) if you keep the heels on!

I walk/jog 5 mornings a week for an hour and it really has helped with my weight loss. I think I would like to do yoga at some point, though I'm not sure when I would fit it in.

Vegas Linda Lou, thanks for stopping by, gosh, I'm sorry to hear that you suffered from an ectopic pregnancy, they are devastating.

Cursing, beer drinking? I would love to have you as a Yoga Instructor! I'm with you though, the benefits are amazing and I do plan to stick with it. No hot flashes? I'm definitely sticking with it! Plan to visit your blog today.

JAM, If I tried to jog in high heels at this age, I'd end up in the emergency room and the only horn honking would be drivers trying to get me the hell off the road and out of their way Lol! Thanks for dropping by!

Too Many Hats, thanks for stopping by, Wow! I'm impressed with your commitment to jogging, will definitely be visiting your blog for inspiration.

Thanks for your comments ladies!

Love my high heels and I'm already 5ft9! Have you seen these new runners out that are supposed to tone your abs as you walk?? They are on my list of things to buy!

I always promise myself that I will go and hike once the weather turns cooler. We have some great hiking trails here, but so far, I've only been able to go on 3 short hikes this year (at the beginning of the year)!
