Aloha Friday - Do You Cut Your Own Hair?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

In my career days before marriage and our daughter, I used to have my hair done professionally every 6 or 7 weeks, cut, color and style at around $100 a trip.  Now that I'm a SAHM,  I only have my hair done by a professional just before a special event.

In between trips to the salon, it's me with the kitchen scissors hacking away at my bangs to keep them out of my eyes while the rest gets pulled back in a ponytail.

So this week's question:  Do you cut your own hair or make regular trips to the salon?

I've been cutting my hair for a couple of years.
It' short and easy to do.
I'm a do it yourself person.

I will occasionally cut my bangs, but wouldn't think of cutting the rest of my hair. I am trying to grow it out to all one length and I'm sure I would mess it up big time. I only get it cut about every three months though and the lady is extremely reasonable. She only charges $16.

I have naturally curly hair and find that I can't cut it myself and have tried my different salons in my area. I tend to get people that say they know how to cut curly hair. But I'm afraid they don't. After living in this area for the last twenty years, I finally found someone that was trained in A Ouidad salon. I hate the price but I try to go two or three times a year. Otherwise I do my hair myself except for cuts. I justify the expense, $90.00 just for the cut by cutting my family's hair and my husband's for the last 30 years. (I have five children so it adds up) I did go to cosmetology school but moved away and had my family. So I have plenty of experience cutting hair. I just wouldn't do my own.

The wife cuts mine. I have let my little one cut it on occasion since she was seven. She loves it. Of course the wife touches it up afterwards. I still have my ears so all is good.

I'm growing my hair out, but I trim my bangs... badly, and everyone notices. Hee!

I wish I could splurge and get my hair done. Though I hate going to the salon and sitting in a chair and having some stranger make small talk. Ugh.

My hubby cut mine last time to save us $ and he didn't do a bad job of it.

I've been know to chop my bangs when I've waited too long to get to the salon. And I usually regret it.

I haven't had my hair done in over a year. I tend to color it and treat it by myself. Use to go about 2 of year to have it done, however I am never pleased with it. And they tend to burn my skin with the processes.

I do not cut it myself... I leave that to my hairstylist...
but, I don't go that often either... maybe once a year... if I am lucky

Going to the hair salon is the only thing I splurge on for myself. I've been going to the same hairdresser for 10+ years and wouldn't want anyone else touching my hair. I go every 5 weeks for a cut, color, and eyebrow wax, which costs me about $75 counting tip.

I used to visit the salon, but don't anymore.

I do my own hair now, and utilize wigs when possible.

I never cut it myself. I go to the salon when I feel it needs cut. Like it does now...

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I don't cut my own hair - it's long and wildly curly....and it is really hard for me to have someone else do it. For some reason, it always feels like they CHOP way too much off and I'm left feeling regret.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Yes, I've cut my and my family's hair for years now. I went to beauty school at an early age and it stuck.

When I was living in Seattle, I went to an awesome hairdresser regularly, at least once per quarter. When I moved to PA, I kept trying to find a hairdresser that could handle a head of hair equal to two people, plus being long (for some reason most people in PA wear their hair short). I struck out no less than 13 times in 13 years - hack jobs at best, which meant I ended up waiting long periods of time between gathering up my courage to try someone new, so I'd trim my own hair, especially my bangs. Or I'd have to cut it myself to fix the hack job done by the hairdresser. :) Now I finally found an awesome hairdresser and plan to go to her regularly and avoid cutting my bangs too short or crooked. ;)

I can't cut my own hair but I put off going to the salon for a trim as long as possible since I hate spending the money on it -- sigh. I got it cut shorter a while back though and I don't like it so now I get to grow it back out :-)
