Aloha Friday - Are You A White-Knuckle Flyer?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

Are you a white-knuckle flyer?

Me.  Definitely.  Maybe it's my control-freak nature and hating to be at the mercy of old air crafts that have been maintained by God knows who and are being flown by complete strangers.

For me it started when I lived in Halifax near the warehouse where the TSB was painstakingly piecing  together what they had of Swiss Air 111 that crashed off the coast of Nova Scotia back in 1998.  Nothing makes plane crashes more real than meeting flatbed truck after flatbed truck carrying pieces of a smashed air craft while you're on your way to work. Then again, watching all those May Day Plane Crash episodes doesn't help either.

And yes, I do it anyway. I've traveled half way around the world more than once and hated it each and every time!

How about you?  Do you hate to fly?

I use to be really bad but now that I live 3 states away from my family and fly several times a year... I think I do okay : )

I have only been on a handful of flights! Each one I was a bit nervous but I get nervous just going on a trip...I actually don't mind flying. But now that Emily is paranoid of flying (she had motion sickness that last time), that makes me MORE nervous than anything! Call me a mom who worries way too much about her kids...lol!

I love to fly, but I will white knuckle it when there's turbulence!

I don't mind flying. I usually sleep during the flight unless it's a short one.

I don't mind flying. But I do hate to sit next to rude people that I do not even know on an 8 hour flight. Ha. I just drink more. :P

I am grateful that flying gets me to my youngest son in Alaska fast than driving does. I miss him.

anyways - welcome back darlhhhing! I have missed you!

I'm not afraid to fly - it does get you from Point A to Point B much faster. ;) But I have to sit in a window seat so I can look out the window and not feel closed in. And I don't like the airport BS that you have to deal with just to get on the plane. :)

I've not flown out of the country in several yrs but I do travel regularly. My biggest issue is parking and getting thru security with the equipment I have to carry. Once on the plane I relax, watch a movie on my laptop or sleep.

I did have a white knuckle flight from Denver to Pueblo Co. It was a ten seater. Yikes!! As Ron White once said when Asked how far that one engine would get them. He answered," All the way to the crash site". LOL

I don't mind flying.. but I do say a little prayer every time we prepare to land. For some reason that scares me.

The long flights kill me and I pray to fall asleep!!!!

I just want to sleep so I don't have to worry to death.

Yes I love driving on terra firma :)

I used to love to fly. Now I tolerate it but I like traveling seeing new places or being with family so there are no options as we are spread out.

Nice meeting you. I look forward to more visits.

Yes, I have such a fear of heights. And somehow I feel that I'm not supposed to be in the air until the Lord comes to take me. Just frightening.

Just flew to and from Atlanta, Georgia recently. Prior to that, it has been five years since my last flight. We've been staying relatively close, driving to our vacation destinations, or taking the Amtrak train.

Once we level off in the air, I relax and wait for the peanuts or the cookie. They're so generous.

Been fortunate not to experience bad turbulance over the last 15 years.
