With so many options for the outside paint color of our old historic home, getting the right shade was a challenge. I knew I wanted yellow with white because we are opposite the water and I love the cottage look of yellow and white overlooking the ocean.

After testing several colors, we choose this one and love it!! We have a three-story home and used this lovely yellow in the peak and then a wide white stripe where we have fancy fish scale cedar shingles on the second floor and then on the first floor where it turns back to square cedar shingles is again this bright and sunny yellow.
I like that color. Very soft and I bet it looks beautiful with the white strip.

It looks cheery on our dull gray days most of Fall and Winter.
Our house is mostly stone with white trim.

ReplyDeleteOur 3-story house (built in 1817) was a challenge, too - when we bought it, it was a fugly blue-ish gray with black trim and black shutters. *shudder* I joked that it looked like a Psycho house with those colors - we changed it to an eggshell white (more on the beige side) with Hunter Green trim and shutters - brought new life to the old place for sure! :)

ReplyDeleteOur home is brick and the bricks are a dark orange-ish brown color. The windows, garage door, and doors are painted a creamy light tan color.

A light yellow... which I am not a fan of!! It need to be repainted badly though!!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a kind of a dark khaki on our home. It blends in with the rest of the desert scenery: brown. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great color. I always think yellow look good by the water to. Our last house we used Navajo white and it was a very nice creamy yellow. Looked great with white cottage furniture.

I live in a brick front house. In central Virginia, the colonial style is very common. But instead of the typical red brick, I opted for a lighter, almost pinkish brick. Medium blue shutters complete the look. I know, it's hard to imagine, but it gets a few compliments. The sides and back have light taupe siding.
