Aloha Friday - Nasty Blog Comments?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

What is the nastiest comment you have received on your blog?

Mine was on a personalized, stamped necklace giveaway I was hosting.  The main entry requirement was to visit the jewelry site and share their favorite jewelry item. Someone left a comment using a faked email address that read "My favorite is the 'You are a Whore Mommy'" necklace.

And no I wasn't offended, just chuckled to myself that some people have a lot to do with their time and hit the delete button and yes, I'm pretty sure I know who went to all the trouble to leave it.  Oh and I then promptly changed my setting so "anonymous" couldn't comment anymore.

Problem solved!

  1. isn't it funny/sad that people waste their time like that?

  2. I've been pretty lucky so far and have gotten no nastygrams. I'm not very controversial.

I did get taken to task one time for spelling Y'all wrong.

    I was devastated.

  3. I've never received a nasty comment. I honestly don't think people should leave anything but positive comments on blogs.

  4. I haven't really received nasty comments on my blog, but nasty emails. I had one where the person was REALLY angry she was being "spammed" with emails... oddly that she had subscribed and wouldn't unsubscribe herself. Odd.

  5. othing nasty towards me but my Zulily review has received a few negative comments recently. I did a test order (on something I wanted of course and I received it in less than 6 days...) Irks me when maybe a competitor leaves crap. I just took off anonymous commenters off too.

  6. I think that is terrible! I am glad you took it lightly which I suppose you should. I don't get why people waste their times either... I only had one when I first started blogging a guy posted on how much he loved BBW woman at least that was the nature of the post. I really didn't think the post was appropriate for my readers or for me for that matter lol. I deleted like you did. But I changed my settings to moderate comments. I am actually a relatively new blogger and have just deleted a few comments like spammers. But I am glad they have the moderating option available. Sad we have to do that tho!

  7. People who leave nasty comments are those who are sick in their souls. I haven't received any nasty comments, just spammers wanting to leave their links.

  9. Some people have too much time on their hands... I haven't received any nasty comments, just a lot of inappropriate spam.

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Definitely too much time on someone's hands, eh?

I have been lucky so far - no nasty comments yet. (knock wood!) ;)

  13. I don't know...I don't think I have really got any to be honest

  14. I don't know if it is as much "nasty" as it is "unstable people" out there- as far as my sites go. Stalkers can leave some weird stuff and people with 'extreme' opinions can leave some weird stuff. I've learned to moderate, delete, and keep my mouth shut on certain issues (hard to do).

Thanks for featuring POSH this week too :)

    Have a great weekend!

  17. Ewwww people can be so nasty and downright stupid! Someone called me a "leech of the system" after I wrote a post on how stressful my daycare sitation was and how the state of NJ no longer has daycare assistance

  18. Oh my gosh that is nasty.. i had some accuse me of being a liar about a product review. Common I used it, you didn't. Really.

  19. I'm glad you didn't let it upset you, which means you won. They didn't.

I haven't had any on my blog, but I've had stuff on my facebook group page, which is expected because of the characters of some of the people in the group.

    Aloha!

  20. That's repulsive!

People who leave comments like that are cowards...that's why they roll that way anonymously...pigs.

  21. I've never had a nasty comment actually. I had that fraud one directed at the company last week, but other than that...nothing.

  22. Wow, that was really nasty -- geez, don't people have better things to do with themselves!

I've been lucky so far that I have not had anything that nasty -- I expect it will happen someday though -- I guess it's all part of blogging -- but all the nice comments make it well worth it.

  24. I get a lot of spam comments, but my spam catcher does a good job eating them up. I can't think of any intentionally mean comments I've ever received though *fingers crossed*

  25. My husband and I had a cyber stalker. Some of this so called person's comments rocked me to my core.

  26. Why do some people bother to make comments like that. I guess they have nothing better to do.

  27. So far, so good for me.

Once, I was challenged by a stressed out mom, but she apologized and I admitted my "mistake."

I hope you don't receive any more rude comments. It's a distraction that we all can do without.

Bloggyland can be tough at times! lol Lots of poor, pathetic people out there.

  28. It's funny how brave people get when they are "anonymous". I also don't allow anonymous comments. I figure if you wanna diss me then at least the courage to put a name on it.
