Wordless Wednesday

Now, back to Wordless Wednesday!

With the colder weather barreling down on us, I thought I would theme my upcoming Wordless Wednesday's based on living in an old Historic Home.  Ours was built in 1891 and was renovated back in 2007. Some features are original, some parts have been completely updated. I'm nosey as Hell and love to snoop around other people's digs so here is your opportunity to check out what the inside of my home is like.

If you want to comment on any of the renovations we did, or the mess and dustballs, go ahead and be completely honest. Just like anyone else who takes on a job of this size we screwed up some things and nailed others. Not to mention, we couldn't babysit the workers because at the time of the actual renovation, our daughter was only 9 months old.  The dust that is kicked up in an old house when you tear out walls and ceilings is no place for a baby! I don't consider myself a great housekeeper either.

This series of Wordless Wednesday posts will be a trip around my old house, what I like and don't like about living in a house that is "Older than the hills".

Yes, I know, I just can't be wordless!

This is one thing that I liked when we bought this house.  In the attic there were two old fancy hot-water radiators.  We had them sandblasted, repainted and reinstalled on the first floor where we could enjoy their beauty.

    I need to do some digging to see more pix of your house. I used to think I wanted to renovate an old house, but now I'm content to read about yours :)

    I remember living in a house with a radiator; how we'd put socks on it to dry, and how if we didn't get them soon enough, they'd scorch. :)
    I'm guessing that you have a lovely and unique home. Keep the pictures comin'. :)

    Beautiful. I always lived in old houses with radiators until my current house. I miss that comforting hissing and/or banging in the middle of the night. And yes, drying things on them and seeing the cat curled up on the cover...

    So, I am obsessed with the show Ghost Hunters, and when you wrote that you live in a house from the 1800s and recently renovated it, it left me wondering if you had any paranormal activity after that? Just curious. I'm a nerd.

    The radiator is beautiful...the detail is amazing. I want to live in an old house with beautiful fixings.

    I love the radiator too. I don't usually like radiators, but this one is lovely. And I love red and white! I wish my whole house had more.

    those are great photos...love the detail in the radiator heaters! i'm so glad you decided to keep them. i LOVE historic homes...can't wait to see more!

    They are so beautiful such detail too and the fact your house was built in the 1800's is so cool it must have some good history to it !! Thanks for sharing

    The radiators are really ornate and beautiful. Are they still usable after moving them? Does it just warm the water or actually heat up the house?

    I'm anxious to see the rest of the house. I love the personality of old houses.

    I never knew radiators could be so beautiful - can you believe I've never actually seen in one person?
    So looking forward to more pictures - I'm a decorating buff, a history buff, and an architecture buff - put that all together and you have one intrigued follower!

    We remodeled our house a couple of years ago, but it's relatively "new" (1940's) compared to yours. Those radiators are absolutely beautiful. I love the charming features in old homes.

    Whoa, I did not know radiators could be that detailed and beautiful. I am really looking forward to your home show each Wednesday. I've fantasized about restoring an old home; but I'm positive I don't have the patience.

    They are beautiful, I never lived with old radiators like that, but my grandmother's apartments always seemed to have them!
