A Lawman's Christmas by Linda Lael Miller!

Hot off the presses this month and just in time for Christmas is the latest novel by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Linda Lael Miller!

A Lawman's Christmas brings love home for the holidays in this brand new McKettrick tale!  Here's a taste of the adventure that awaits Linda Lael Miller's fans:

"The sudden death of the town marshal leaves Blue River, Texas, without a lawman....and twenty-five-year-old Dara Rose Nolan without a husband.  As Winter approaches and her meager seamstress income dwindles, she has three options.  Yet she won't give up her two young daughters, refuses to join the fallen women of the Bitter Gulch Saloon and can't fathom condemning herself to another loveless marriage.  Unfortunately she must decide...soon...because there's a new marshal in town, and she's living under his roof"

"With the heart of a cowboy, Clay McKettrick plans to start a ranch and finally settle down.  He isn't interested in uprooting Dara Rose and her children, but he is interested in giving her protection, friendship-and passion.  And when they say "I do" to a marriage of convenience, the temporary lawman's Christmas wish is to make Dara Rose his permanent wife!!"

Coming soon to a bookstore near you and just in time for Christmas!!!

Aloha Friday - Are You Neighborly?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.
After watching the Coroner remove the young woman from the apartment house across the street (you can read about it HERE), it got me to thinking of how little I know of the women who live there (she was the lawyer, 47 years old and it took 4  days to find her which is just so tragic).

Getting back to my thoughts on this, I know every other homeowner on our block on both sides of the street. So well in fact, we regularly meet up on the sidewalk and talk several times a week.  This one big brick mansion is the only residence where the people on our street hardly know the people who live there even though the same owner and tenants have been there for more than three years.

How about you,  how well do you know your neighbors?  Keeping in mind it took 4 days to find my neighbor after her death, would you notice if something was that horribly wrong in your own neighborhood or could it take several days to discover someone there too?

The View From My Window

It started when I noticed the ambulance stop outside.  Two paramedics rush inside the open door of the house across the street and race up the stairs. Then a marked Police car shows up.  Then another marked Police car followed by a Police van.

What could be causing so much commotion in the big brick mansion across the street on a lazy Sunday morning?  It contained three apartments, each occupied by a woman.  The owner lived there and even though I didn't know her personally,  I knew she was in her mid to late 40's and had recently broken up with her boyfriend.  Hey, it's a small town, we pretty much know what's going on with the neighbors even if we don't know them.

Then I thought of her tenants.  One was a woman in her mid 40's who drove the flashy convertible.  A lawyer, she was tall, slender and attractive although I had heard rumors she suffered from depression.  The other tenant was a young woman, perhaps in her late 20's.  I hadn't seen her for several days and I knew I didn't like the look of her boyfriend.  I had dated enough losers in my time to easily spot one.

I breathe a sigh of relief as the paramedics leave empty handed.  The women must be okay, maybe it was just a false alarm or something minor.

I then see a white "Support Unit" pull up.  I gasp as two men emerge in white crime-scene jumpsuits complete with hoods, boot covers and masks.  One of the men is holding a big black camera.  Oh no!!!  What is going on over there???? What is going on?????

I sit at our dining room table in stunned silence staring out the window as this grotesque scene unfolds.  A few minutes later one of the white jumpsuits walks out of the building carrying a brown paper bag with a big square yellow tag. The number "1" is clearly marked in bold black.  After filling a few more brown paper bags, the white suits climb back into their white van and leave.  So did several of the police cars.

Then my hands fly upward to cover my mouth and I feel tears form in the corners of my eyes as I see the Coroner's Van pull up.  I watch in horrified silence as two men go around to the back of the van and unload a gurney.  They slowly roll it inside the mansion.

A few minutes later, the fully loaded gurney is brought back outside, a white sheet neatly tucked from the top of the head down and over the heels.  I don't know who she is as I feel the tears slide down my cheeks.

As I type this I still don't know which of the three women was brought out on that gurney.  None of the cars in the driveway have been moved and there has been little activity inside the house.  We have been told no foul play is suspected but what I do know for sure is somewhere a family is heartbroken.

Womanly Journey Inspirational Jewelry GIVEAWAY ENDED

Winner is Michelle C

Every now and then, a jewelry company comes along with a theme that just hits a home run for me.  Womanly Journey is just such a company.  When they first contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their lovely jewelry pieces, I was intrigued.  Once I read their story on how this jewelry came to be I will thrilled!!

Their name says it all.  The journey of becoming a woman represented beautifully in this bracelet featuring pretty charms each with a positive message.

This feminine design was created out of love from a mother for her daughter.  The perfect way to symbolize the greatness of the journey to womanhood.  Once you acquire the bracelet, you have the option to personalize it by adding special charms representing Love (the heart included), Friendship, Femininity, Mystery, Breast Health, Belief in Yourself (the butterfly woman pictured) and Claiming Your Freedom (the wings included).

Along with this special bracelet is a book telling the story of the bracelet itself along with the story of each charm already included, inspirational messages and the story of other charms you can add.

Here's The Story of
Womanly Journey Jewelry

The bracelet itself is done in a polished rhodium plating with the butterly woman charm featuring fuchsia enamel on the open wings.  The bracelet is made to fit wrists from 4" all the way up to 8" with the option to add an extender.  Additional charms come with a well-constructed and secure lobster claw clasp so they are super easy to attach where you want them or you can move them around.

And check out this beautiful presentation!  The bracelet with heart, butterfly woman and wings will arrive in this luxurious black gift box beautifully displayed on black cardboard and securely tucked inside a deep pink tulle envelope. Just add a bow and it's ready for gift giving.

I received this wonderful bracelet and booklet in record time and I love the quality. Nice and solid and can easily stand up to everyday wear.  I love the theme, the story and the love that went in to creating this jewelry.  I have a five-year-old daughter and I know there is nothing more important than teaching her to love, honor and embrace who she is as she grows up.  This bracelet will symbolize that beautifully in pretty charms!

Aloha Friday - Holiday Decorating

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

With Halloween just around the corner, I've been busy putting up glowing window silhouettes, staining and tearing curtains for our front porch, buying pumpkins and making signs for the front of the house.  Of all the holidays, Halloween is my absolute favorite for decorating our home.  There is just something about the architecture of old historic homes that make them ideal for a spooky setting each Halloween.

By the time October 31st rolls around, our house has been transformed into a Halloween Haven.  I've watched cars stop out front after making a special trip to let their little ones knock on our door and I've had parents photograph their children enjoying our spooky decor (probably for their blogs Lol!).

How about you.... what holiday is your favorite when decorating the outside of your home?

Yes, My Hubby Is Still A Klutz!

My husband is such a klutz, he has me laughing out loud on a regular basis.  Some of his antics I've written about and you can read them herehere, and here.

Before I get started, I have to ask.  Is there anyone out there who doesn't know how to work a covered water pitcher????  Anyone?????  Anyone at all???

It's pretty standard, right?  You pour in the drink, add the ice and then put on the lid.  You want a drink, you twist the lid so the teeth line up with the spout to allow the drink to pour out.  This basic design keeps the ice in the jug while you pour.  It's not rocket science, doesn't take a university degree to figure out.  It's simple and straight forward, especially if the same damn jug has been on the table for 10 years!

Well, apparently I'm wrong.  Who would have guessed this simple jug could stump someone who spent years going to medical school.

Only my hubby would go to pour from this jug WITHOUT either removing the lid or turning it so the opening was in the front.  In the middle of dinner, he picked it up and went to fill his glass and when the juice didn't pour out, he continued to tip the jug until the pressure of the juice inside forced the entire lid to pop off upside down on the table.  Oh yes, all the juice went flying everywhere.

Do you think I laughed hysterically in spite of the mess???  If you said "Yes", you'd be right.  Thanks hubs for another belly laugh.

Aloha Friday - What Color is Your House?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

With so many options for the outside paint color of our old historic home, getting the right shade was a challenge.  I knew I wanted yellow with white because we are opposite the water and I love the cottage look of yellow and white overlooking the ocean.
After testing several colors, we choose this one and love it!!  We have a three-story home and used this lovely yellow in the peak and then a wide white stripe where we have fancy fish scale cedar shingles on the second floor and then on the first floor where it turns back to square cedar shingles is again this bright and sunny yellow.

How about you?  What color do you have on the outside of your home or apartment?

$149.99 Coolerest Sleep Pad GIVEAWAY with Review ENDED

Winner is Angela H

If you or someone you know has trouble sleeping, have I got a product to share with you!!

I couldn't believe my luck when the generous folks at Cool gel solutions.com offered to send me one of their Coolerest Sleep Pads to review.  Let's just say it was out of the box and on our bed within minutes of showing up at our door.

For me personally, having hot flashes was making it so uncomfortable to sleep.  I tried opening the  windows, throwing off the blankets or jumping into a cool shower but nothing worked for more than a few minutes.  All I ended up doing was waking my hubby or having him shut the windows behind me.  But not anymore!!

Utilizes the Natural Properties of Water
 and a
 Special Proprietary Gel!
Cool - Easy To Use - Eco-Friendly

We've been using the Coolerest Sleep Pad on our bed for about two weeks now and I can honestly say those nights of arguing over the open windows and thermostat are over.

The secret is in the design of this cool Gelmat.  It has been cleverly created to be 8-10 degrees cooler than room temperature!  Not only that, it will gradually warm to your body temperature within about 60 minutes and if that isn't long enough, just roll over to a new spot and the entire process starts over.  You can easily cool down anytime during the night.  And because you can comfortably cool your body without feeling "cold", getting that good night's sleep we all need is super easy!

And it's so easy to use, just lay it across your bed under your fitted sheet, make the bed as usual and you're good to go.

It's washable, non-toxic, reversible and has antimicrobial/anti-odor properties so you can enjoy your Coolerest Sleep Pad for years.

For anyone who needs to stay cool, a Coolerest Sleep Pad is the answer.  And it's not just for us menopausal gals.  Use it during the hot summer months and save on the expense of air conditioning or take it along to stay cool anywhere else in your home or car.

Try a Coolerest Sleep Pad and enjoy the best sleep of you life!!
