I'm A Fan of HRH Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall

I get so tired of hearing people bitch and complain anytime the name Camilla Parker Bowles gets thrown around.  All these people who are so quick to pass judgement and ridicule her life, her looks and her love for Prince Charles.

I know she played a part in the breakup of Charles and Diana but seriously folks, if you really cared about Diana, wouldn't you have wanted her to be with someone who loved her?
I thought Camilla looked absolutely radiant on her wedding day

Stop taking out your frustration with the Monarchy on Camilla.  It was their antiquated rules that prevented Charles from marrying Camilla in the first place.  It was the Monarchy who pounced on poor innocent Diana and chose her to be the wife for Charles.  Do you really think he wanted to marry a naive and insecure 19-year old?

Bottom line, Camilla has done nothing but love and support Charles for most of his life and when it comes right down to it, don't you think they deserve each other?

Rant Review with Free Advice to GIVEAWAY!

Yes, you read it correctly.  Nothing to give away today except some Free Advice. I've decided if you guys are willing to take the time to read about the products I do like, then why not do a post about something I don't.

If you're wondering what has me so "pissed" (pardon the pun) today, it's toilet paper.  Yes, two packages of 12 Double Rolls that were purchased by me at full price that are absolute "crap"!  And even with three bathrooms in our house, I can't use this stuff up fast enough. I don't know if it's multiplying in the linen closet or what but every time I think I'm down to the last couple of rolls, I find more of it.

Take a look at the pretty packaging and deceiving "quilted" detail you see when you peer through the wrapping. Trust me, there was nothing in the price to tip me off this toilet paper was like sandpaper and so thin, you could practically read a newspaper through it.  Even my husband who never says a word about the stuff I buy complained and don't even ask what my 4 year old thinks of it.

Look, I know we've come a long way since the out-of-season catalogue in the outhouse and I'm all for supporting companies who use recycled paper.  But when the final product is so rough it could leave a mark, maybe it's time to cut down a tree!

Disclosure:  I  purchased two packages of 12 Double Rolls of this toilet paper at my local supermarket before writing this review.  I was not compensated for writing a positive or favorable review and this is my personal opinion of the product.

Aloha Friday - Clutter-Free Zone?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question:

Do you have a clutter-free zone in your home?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked what your cooking style is (from scratch, boxed etc) and I told all of you, I preferred to cook from scratch.  Here's the secret though.  If I didn't insist on a clutter-free kitchen, I would hate cooking (when I moved into hubby's house before we moved here, the kitchen there was a train wreck of crap, clutter & junk so we ate out... a lot!)

No kidding, this is how my counter tops look every evening after dinner

so making breakfast, lunch and dinner is a pleasure!

In this home, I insist on a clutter-free kitchen and hubby is now on board.  So much so, he's now happy to live in a clutter-free home for the first time!

Oh Yes You Can!

Like most of you, I watched in horror as a tidal wave of destruction washed over people, vehicles, homes, and buildings in Japan on Friday. Wanting to do something, I turned to the internet to find a way to donate.

To avoid the scammers, I chose the Canadian Red Cross who had already modified their website to accept donations using credit cards, checks and even paypal. Donations that will enable them to support emergency response efforts including evacuation, search and rescue and emergency first aid not to mention the ongoing resources that will be necessary to take care of survivors.

If you want to help, please find an organization you believe in and donate now. Every penny counts and they can add up fast!

My friend Lyn of Gustosa Giveaways who happens to live in Japan has provided many donation links on a post she did "Here"

Just think, if only half of you who follow Meno Deb donate $5 (or the price of a fancy coffee) we could raise over $5000!!!

I've made my donation, have you?

Alexa's Angels Believe for a Cure Bracelet GIVEAWAY With Review (ENDED)

WINNER IS KIM W

When I was given the opportunity to review an item from the vast line of meaningful jewelry created by the talented artists of Alexa's Angels, I was drawn to the Believe for a Cure Pink Crystal Heart Bracelet for breast cancer awareness.

Thousands of women of all ages continue to be diagnosed each and every year with this dreaded disease and I am reminded of that every time my own five-year-old daughter reaches a milestone.  You see, the week she was born, another mom here who was only 32 at the time, gave birth to her own daughter and then passed away 5 months later when her breast cancer returned.  She left behind a 6-year-old and her newborn daughter, the same age as my own little girl.

Unfortunately, this heartbreaking story or one very similar continues to play out again and again all over the world.  Raising money, spreading awareness and finding a cure is critical so as a tribute to all those brave moms, daughters, sisters, aunts and grandmothers, Alexa's Angels has created this outstanding bracelet.

featuring sparkling Pink Swarovski Crystals set in an Antiqued
 Rhodium-Plated setting with a double-toggle closure
 allowing for comfortable, custom fit

And I love this bracelet. It's so feminine and pretty with a nice weight so it hangs beautifully with just the right amount of bling for everyday wear.

Aloha Friday - Nasty Blog Comments?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani in beautiful Hawaii at An Island Life where Friday is the day to take it easy while anticipating the coming weekend. Today I'm going to link up, take it easy and ask a question.

What is the nastiest comment you have received on your blog?

Mine was on a personalized, stamped necklace giveaway I was hosting.  The main entry requirement was to visit the jewelry site and share their favorite jewelry item. Someone left a comment using a faked email address that read "My favorite is the 'You are a Whore Mommy'" necklace.

And no I wasn't offended, just chuckled to myself that some people have a lot to do with their time and hit the delete button and yes, I'm pretty sure I know who went to all the trouble to leave it.  Oh and I then promptly changed my setting so "anonymous" couldn't comment anymore.

Problem solved!
